The Estate is served by the Haldeman Mansion Preservation Society, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. We encourage you to peruse our website to learn more about this unique place, our interests, and activities. We invite you to join us in preserving this historic property for future generations.
Our Focus
A Haldeman Mansion restored and renovated for use as a history museum, an educational center and community gathering place.
Preserve History
We seek to restore and preserve the Haldeman Mansion and Locust Grove Estate. Studying its history is akin to taking a journey thru the history of the United States, beginning with Native American hunting parties and settlements, followed by fur traders, farmers, merchants, politicians, and a scientist who helped foster the development of an American scientific community in the 1800’s.
Promote Education
We seek to educate children and adults on the Native American, Colonial, Early American and Scientific Heritages present at Locust Grove and its immediate surroundings thru educational activities and the maintenance of a museum.
Promote Community
Locust Grove Estate is known for its imposing historic mansion and beautiful, serene location overlooking the wide, shallow Susquehanna River. Over the years, in addition to history buffs, it has drawn landscape and history artists, been selected for gatherings of all types, from birthdays, to reunions and increasingly weddings.
